Our Mission.
Tribe Diesel Diva is dedicated to the movement of “Peace Through Sports.”
Harnessing the power of grassroots philanthropy, Tribe DD seeks to shine a spotlight on promising and talented athletes and individuals in ball sports and combat sports, with a particular eye on those who hail from marginalized communities in developing countries, and those struggling with social and economic insufficiencies.
In furtherance of this mission, Tribe DD sponsorships assess the needs of athletes or fighters on a case-by-case basis and empower them with financial assistance, resources and connections to get to the next level of their career, on to the biggest stages and arenas of the combat sports or ball playing world.
40 MMA fighters from around 20 different countries have so far been sponsored by the Diesel Diva brand, among them fighters now in organizations like the UFC and One Championship. A number of them are now at the top of the game, working in sport and sponsoring their own social projects in the name of #PeaceThroughSports.
Our VISION.
Tribe Diesel Diva envisions an inclusive international community united and peaceful using the lessons engendered through sports. The Diesel Diva herself envisions a vast network of grassroots gyms in marginalized communities globally, empowering the next generation with skill and characteristics that will make the global community inclusive and positive.
All members and athletes of the Tribe are committed to growing a thriving, diverse, and competitively friendly space under the banner of “No Fascism, No Racism, No Sexism, and No Homophobia.”
who is the diesel diva?
BEVERLY ROACH
International Security Specialist
Beverly Aisha Roach is the founder and creator of the Diesel Diva and Tribe DD.
The DD brand of sports philanthropy and gear are so named because of Bev’s non-stop energy and tenacity of spirit, after someone commented on her dogged workout ethic during training. Because of her work as a security consultant and soldier, she has traveled widely and has so visited 76 countries and counting.
She graduated at the Royal Military College of Canada with honors, then took up a Master of Arts in Security Management from the American Military University. A former captain in the Canadian military, she has been deployed in conflict zones like Afghanistan, Sudan, Iran, and the former West Germany. When she realized that athletes in countries she visited were being taken advantage of or receiving poor guidance, she completed an MSc. in Sports Management.
Keeping people safe has been her profession and, after her career as a soldier, she left the service for a new calling as a security consultant for international institutions and organizations.
A practising martial artist, bringing the aspects of her work to the vulnerable and the susceptible sectors remains her passion. Women are her top priority, and one of her passions is to teach women security awareness and self-defense through the combative arts she has had the privilege of practising.
Bev has fought to educate women because they are a vulnerable group. Often, women are targets because of a culture of casual harassment, bullying, and often impunity with regards to their boundaries.
Bev continues her education mission throughout the world because, in plenty of cultures women’s bodies are still thought of as easy to violate, something cavalierly objectified.
